Richardson seeks pro games in NM
ALBUQUERQUE — Gov. Bill Richardson wants professional football to arrange a few games in New Mexico, and he knows a good place to go for the negotiation — the Super Bowl. Richardson said he plans to meet with NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and New York Giants chairman Preston Robert Tisch to discuss the possibility of scheduling some pre-season games and scrimmages in New Mexico starting with the 2005 season. He said he already talked to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Saturday and encouraged Jones to schedule a game here.

Elway, Sanders Among Hall of Fame Inductees

Violence myth dogs game day
Despite the expected surge in testosterone and alcohol consumption on Super Bowl Sunday, it's not a day to expect a jump in domestic violence, according to law enforcement and victims' advocate groups. The link between Super Bowl Sunday and violence against women, with the absence of data from major studies, appears to be myth. Domestic violence in the state is a problem, but not because of the game, said Cathy Zeiner, executive director of the Women's Center of Southeastern Connecticut. "There's not a correlation," Zeiner said, though "alcohol does play a role in exacerbating a violent situation.

Latest E-xtortion Focused On Gambling Sites
threaten to take down popular gambling websites just as the Super Bowl gets under way this Sunday. The extortion emails read like typical organized crime threats to local businesses asking for "protection" money. They ask for a certain amount, and promise that will cover the site for a certain period of time. If the site owners don't pay, they promise a denial of service attack that will take out the site on Super Bowl Sunday. The Newport Daily News
MIDDLETOWN - The Deasley brothers, their father, James, and a trio of friends are loyal New England Patriots fans, so much so that they're driving more than 1,800 miles to the Super Bowl in Houston - without tickets to the big game. The group left from James Deasley's home on Bayview Park Thursday afternoon in a rented RV and in a Super Bowl-or-bust frame of mind. If they can get into the biggest sports spectacle of the year, "Great!" Jim Deasley said. If not, it will still be worth the cross-country trip, spending time with brother David, their dad and buddies Jose Garcia, Mickey Metzler and Al Silvia while rooting for the Pats.
